When HK Baguette closed for renovation a collective groan went up among the crowd who lunch in Lan Kwai Fong. Being the mainstay of the Fong’s snack scene it was sorely missed.
But now La Baguette has taken its place and HK Baguette regulars have been flocking back with relief. But all is not as it was. For a start the place is double the size and is open to the street with a new shiny curvy table to perch at and watch the goings on while you devour that sandwich.
But there are changes on the food front too. The menu has undergone as much of a transformation as the venue. Although the staple sandwich and pizza favorites are still there, albeit a tad more expensive, there is a huge addition in the shape of real meals and by that I mean things which don’t come between two bits of bread.
That’s right, the sweet little sandwich shop has elevated itself to mini restaurant proportions. There are appetizers such as wild mushroom on toast with herb and cream cheese, beef and chicken burritos, also salads, soup, pastas like spaghetti with smoked salmon in water cress cream sauce and mains such as grilled beef sirloin steak served on garlic mash and tomato salsa or butter fish fillet on lemon and braised vegetables.
So come and see what you think. Do they get the thumbs up with the new look and the posh menu or do you miss the cosy little place it once was?
Hours
Mon-Thurs 10:30am-12midnight
Fri & Sat 10:30am-5am
